Why we created a course on Parenting the Digital Generation
The truth is, this topic found us. We never knew the full time battle we were up against when we gave our 8th grade daughter a smartphone for Christmas. We were one of the last parents to give her one. We taught our responsible and attentive daughter the proper precautions. We set guidelines and made her sign a contract. But we had no idea what was lurking out there in the minefield of the internet. It wasn’t until we noticed a certain group chat among her friends that we realized parenting our child on the Internet is a lot more complicated than we thought.
While doing seminars, speaking with many other parents, and our own experiences with our four oldest kids over these past few years, we learned that sexting, pornography, and cyberbullying is a click away. But more typically kids are spending far too many hours plugged in.
Why you need the Parenting the Digital Generation Course
From one mom to another do you ever get overwhelmed at the pace of change in technology? The opened portal of the digital world leaves our kids with an unhealthy ache to belong, and to freely access content that is vulgar, immoral or dark. But there is more than just saying no. We have been called to Create digital missionaries and to accompany our kids and their friends.
